Boomer Wisdom With Power

Greetings from a "boomer" health enthusiast--

Hi, I'm Ellen Mitchell, a "baby boomer" with high expectations for maintaining great health, vitality and longevity. Having had to work full-time all my life, I've tried to stay healthy so as to not need to miss work or go to work feeling under the weather.

Ever since I was a little tyke, I have suffered from colds, ear infections and sinus infections. Having a desire to avoid these ailments, I have become "in-tune" to my body's reaction to specific foods, emotional stress and lack of sleep.

In the last 15 years, I have learned ways in which to strengthen my immune system and I am able to stay clear of the recurring infections of my earlier years. I have more energy and none of the stiffness in my joints that I had experienced 10 years ago. Recently, I have been studying and experiencing the healthy effects of a positive attitude, the law of attraction, meditation and using the power of love. I am so excited about the changes I've made in my whole outlook on life and anxious to share my boomer wisdom in my Squidoo lenses.

Very Fasinating Research

4 Blood Types -- 4 Diets: This is a very interesting concept I've been studying. After evaluating the health issues I've experienced throughout my entire life, there is something that rings true about this theory. More about this theory in my Lens called Diet and Blood Types.

I love milk but it doesn't love me.

Could this actually be an answer to my suffering with sinus problems all these years? Well, I must definitely give an affirmative answer! As I have learned to use soy and almond products as alternatives to milk products, I have not been afflicted with the recurring bacterial attacks on my sinuses.

Of course, there are other factors that play into the picture of staying clear of sinus infections. Physical exercise, limiting refined sugar, managing stress, getting enough rest, and having a positive attitude are key elements in my health and vitality.

I mix it up at different locations

Walking is my choice of exercise. Whether the river path, the outdoor track at the park, or foot path around the hospital, or just around my neighborhood, I like being outdoors. In the winter I walk at the Mall before the shops open. Twenty to 45 minutes is about what I allow for myself. It's easy, it's free and I have quiet time to think.

Having a pet to love, care for and play with

does wonders to one's health and vitality.

I have been a member of Redgage for a couple of years and have had a a blast with my camera. RedGage has redefined socializing and creating projects on the web by paying you for all of your blogs, pictures, videos, documents, and links.

I started by accepting a challenge by a fellow squid. The challenge was called "365 Day Flower Challenge" and I now have a nice collection of beautiful flowers. I continue to add additional flowers each new season and have expanded my submissions to include landscapes, places of interest, clouds, and sunsets.

(Star Trek--Generations Movie)

I had the opportunity to read lots of children's books in college as an Elementary Teaching major. . The book I have selected to feature here is a Caldecott winner which I used in my first grade class. My children got a hoot out of it and it was my favorite to share as a "read aloud" every year.
